Method:

The theory of assertiveness is developed through group discussion and brief tutor input. Delegates are encouraged to discuss and learn from situations where they have felt that feedback experienced in the past was unhelpful.

Practical exercises designed to facilitate learning of the techniques are demonstrated by the course tutor and are then worked on in small groups. Delegates receive personal feedback and coaching from the course tutor and each other.

Where possible work place examples are used to demonstrate the relevance of assertiveness at work.

Handouts are provided.

Delegates are encouraged to link the material to their life experience in order to promote enthusiasm for incorporating the material into their personal communication style.

The programme is flexible in order to account for individual and group needs.
